Like a horse with blinders

That’s me! It’s the way I work. I get pretty focused and forget to do other things… like take pictures for my blog!

Mairead's Quilt

I finished the quilt I have been making for my niece’s bedroom. At least I am trying to decide that I am finished, since I have some great ideas for some hand quilted embroidery. But I have taken my sweet time getting it done, as it is. So I guess I will have to save that inspiration for the days after my kids move out (that is still 12 years away, if we are lucky!)

Isaleen's Quilt

My sister in law asked me to take pictures of how I sandwiched and quilted it, because she is planning to do a few quilts. Well, like I said, “a horse with blinders”. I have no pictures of the process, but I have seen a few good instructions out in blogland. I know I have seen more, but I can’t remember where. So if you know of (or posted yourself) some instructions on the quilt sandwich process, please post links in the comments!

    Hi Bethany,
I think this is a lovely quilt! I’m like a horse with blinders too, when I’m doing a project, and it sure helps get things done! That’s how I wrecked my elbow at work! I’ve got a little tear in the tendon that’s going to take up to a year to heal! So now, if doing a project and it begins to really hurt, I have to stop. :-) Love your photography. Who’s the lucky niece?

The quilt is for the full size bed in my niece Mairead’s room. My sister in law asked me to put it together and I said yes, because I knew the fabrics she would pick would make it really fun. She also sent fabric for the boys beds and I think they will be pretty fun, too. We are having a miserable cold snap, so this is a good time to do it. It isn’t so fun to make big quilts when the weather gets warm.

Did you know that the comments don’t show on the blog?

Hello, I see you are in Michigan. I grew up in MI moved to Fl then to Seattle. I was in MI in January, I flew to Traverse City and met up with my brother and sister, we traveled to the UP to Tacquamenon Falls State Park and camped for a week. We snow shoed and just had a great time, lots of snow and beautiful weather. What part of MI do you live. My sister lives in Petoskey and brother in Waterford. We grew up in Clarkston near Pine Knob, where my folks still live in the summer months. I see from the weather channel you are still getting snow.
